Round’em Up! Take The Family On A Modern-Day Cattle Drive Vacation

Saturday, November 6th, 2010

Looking for a rewarding and memorable family vacation idea? A
cattle drive may be just the thing. We’re talking about real
ranchers on real working cattle ranches. Ranch vacations are a
good way for them to help support the ranch. But it’s not all
business with them. They want to share their way of life and
educate people about a quickly disappearing aspect of our
American history and culture.

Don’t worry if you’ve never sat in a saddle before. Sure, some
riding experience is helpful but the activities are geared for
whatever skill level you have. All the ranches provide horse
riding instruction for anyone who needs or wants it…

In general, the more experience you have, the more you can
expect to get into the thick of things on the cattle drive. Less
experienced riders put in the back or at the sides. But that
doesn’t mean you will be bored. There’s still plenty of action
and hard work for everyone.

Yes, I said hard work. This is not a lay-about-on-the-beach
vacation. But that’s the idea. You work hard and you play hard.
This is a chance to tackle unique challenges in a fun and
adventurous way. A cattle drive vacation can be a rewarding
experience, particularly for children. It’s a tremendous
opportunity to build their self-confidence and self-esteem.

You can typically expect to spend between 4 and 10 hours a day
in the saddle. This will most likely mean a little discomfort
but the rewards are worth it. Just be sure to bring a long pain
relievers for muscle aches and antibiotic cream in case of a
saddle sore or two.

Some ranches have cabins or lodges where you sleep at night.
Others put you in a tent on the trail. Some will even have you
sleeping out under the stars.

Besides cattle drives you can also participate in real cowboy
stuff. You can help sort and brand the cattle. Learn roping.
Check out the fence lines. And it’s not all work and no play.
Relaxing around the campfire, playing cards, pitching horseshoes
or some good old-fashioned saloon dancing.

Every ranch has a different program so check them out for what
suits you and your family. Whatever ranch you choose, I think
the whole family will be challenged and have a heck a lot of fun
too

Home Grown Young Scientist

Monday, November 1st, 2010

How would you like to see your children get excited about learning science? “Yeah, right”, you’re thinking. “You don’t know MY kids”. True, science doesn’t rank very high on most kid’s popularity lists.

Oh sure, they get a kick out of seeing a mock volcano experiment or some other flashy science demonstration, but when it comes right down to actually learning the principles involved, well, that’s a different story. But don’t despair. There’s still a hands-on learning approach that will teach the necessary knowledge while retaining the fun of those wacky science experiments that sometimes go awry.

What exactly am I talking about? Educational science kits, that’s what.

Sales for children’s educational science kits are on the rise, and with good reason. They are becoming a great blessing to children, teachers and parents. Many homeschoolers are investing in these kits in order to give their children that hands-on experience many public school students get in the classroom, and more.

Good science kits consist of tools which encourage exploration through activities that make learning fun. They are filled with activities to engage young imaginations and build creative minds and critical thinking skills.

The types of science kits available are nearly endless. There are kits for learning about plants, animals, chemistry, electronics, robotics, geology, even the weather. They come fully equipped with all the materials required. And these kits are designed for specific grade levels.

For example, most first graders are required to learn about the senses. The My Senses Kit
encourages children to conduct experiments exploring the five senses. Included in the kit are a stethoscope, a telescope and a prism. When making a decision about which kit to buy, keep in mind that there is more to these kits than meets the eye (no pun intended). They’re chock-full of great learning tools and experiences for your young student.

The Mini Ant Factory is also good choice for the very young. Measuring 8” by 8 1/2”, it provides great lessons in responsibility. Of course, if you are worried about ants running all over your house you might prefer The Bug World. This kit includes a net, a magnifying glass, charts, and no ants, at least not indoors. Both of these kits teach students all about ecology and the insect world. Bugs not included, but we’re sure that won’t be a problem for your budding entomologist.

If your student is a little older, he may be interested in electronics. Science kits are tools that can help both children and adults decipher the world of electronics by introducing some basic knowledge. Electrical science kits are great because you usually end up with a device that can be used over and over for both fun and practical uses.

One example is the Short Wave Radio Kit. You can learn about electronics as you build a radio. When you are done you have your very own short wave radio. There are other kits that teach how to build telephones, cameras, doorbells, and even kites and simple rockets. These kits are not only fun to use, but they also teach the scientific principles involved in how they are made and why they work.

Commercial science kits are attractive and can be convenient resources. They are perfect for those who have trouble rounding up all the stuff for experiments. These kits are comprehensive, high quality learning tools. Many science kits are supplemented by very clear teacher’s and student’s manuals, as well as worksheets.

Science kits are particularly helpful for children who have not had concrete experience with science. They are packed with materials to help children enjoy learning about science and how scientists work. Science kits are filled with activities to engage young imaginations and build creative minds and critical thinking skills.

Science Kits are indeed inexpensive, fun, and educational science experiments in a box.
They are an excellent way to give our children hands-on science time in our homeschooling activities. Science kits are popular with the students and reinforce scientific concepts through experiential learning.

How do people come up with all of these ideas for science kits? Are their developers mad scientists with too much time on their hands? Hardly.

Science kits are based on sound theory and backed by real-world testing. The kits are a result of years of working with teachers, scientists, museums, and students. Science kits are high-quality science and technology related educational products for children of all ages. And they are teacher-friendly. They are great education aids that make science fun.

Science kits are also a great choice for multi-sensory learning. If your child is one who learns by doing, science kits are the perfect tools to use to teach. Let’s face it. Books can only take a child so far. Science kits can take him or her to the next level with hands-on activities that he or she will really enjoy.

Science Kits are a truly unique, scientific, fun way to get kids loving science. These comprehensive, high-quality science kits are perfect for redefining science and engaging minds and hands in worthwhile play. The science kits are curriculum in and of themselves.

Learning science can be a wonderful experience. Most public and private schools have lab equipment so that students can gain the hands-on experience they need, although the variety of the equipment and quality of the instruction they receive varies greatly. Homeschoolers, however, rarely have access to such equipment.

That is why it is so important to invest in educational science kits. They can give your child that hands-on experience that will help to prepare him/her for college, work or both. Who knows, maybe your child will one day become famous for developing some wild and wacky scientific demonstration. Better yet, perhaps he or she will make a significant scientific contribution that will improve the lives of mankind for generations to come.

Top 3 Social Networking Web Design Tips

Saturday, October 30th, 2010

We have seen many social networking sites to gain quick popularity while a very few didn’t make it up to the mark. With almost one year now, through which the social networking websites gained ultimate popularity, now is the ideal time to look into the successful social networks for some unique social networking web design tips. Here are 5 main points that has to be noted for a successful social networking website design.

3. Learning from the mistakes that other social networks have made

As already said, while many social networking sites like myspace, Facebook etc have gained popularity, a few other social networking sites have disappeared in the Internet crowd. As the old saying goes, “The only real mistake is the one from which we learn nothing.” Hence it’s necessary to learn from the mistakes that the other social networks made. One of the biggest mistakes that some of the social networking web designers make is overloading their web page with heavy graphics. They have a misconception that attracting visitors to social networking website depends all on eye candy. Loading a web page with heavy graphics will end up in longer load times. The visitors of your website won’t be patient enough to wait for the page to load. This will make the visitors quit from the page and they never return to your social networking website. Hence make the social networking web design simple and user friendly.

2. Increase the interactivity of your Social Networking website

With the advancements in online marketing and SEO techniques, driving visitors to your social networking website is easy today. It’s upto the effective social networking web design to make the visitors spend some time in your site and also become returning users. For this, some interactive stuff must be added to the social networking website. Apart from the common social networking features like making friends and exchanging messages some other interactive fun stuff can be added to the social networking website. The social networking softwares come in handy here. There are many social networking software that can be used in your social networking website, which will be fun for the users. They will be pleased to return to your site to use the social networking applications and moreover, they will refer your site to their fiends too.

1. Be unique

Social networking websites are emerging like mushrooms today. At this point, just think in a social networking users point to view. With thousands of social networking websites out there, why should they choose your social networking website? The answer is simple “Make it unique”. Provide the visitors of your social networking website something that the similar networks haven’t offered. Be sure that the unique offerings at your social networks are useful too.

Bottom line

People consider privacy much more important than anything today. Hence it is essential for your social networking web design to ensure the privacy of the visitors of your site.

Adult ADHD: Beating The

Wednesday, October 27th, 2010

In this article we are going to address some of the wonderful questions Adult ADHD people have written in with, asking about how to “focus and finish” with Adult ADHD. Here’s a really great one from Judy…

Judy says, “My question is finishing the job. I have a number of projects that are 85% done. How do we zero in until it’s completed? Thanks, from Judy.”

Stephanie: Yes, it’s true: when you have Adult ADHD, it’s much easier to start projects, and even to get 85% of them done, than to get that last 15% finished. First, you need to be aware of what’s happening here, and that it’s normal with Adult ADHD.

Someone with Adult ADHD starts out a project and it’s really exciting, fun and you’re interested in it. You’ve got a lot of momentum, and then you get halfway through, and you say, “Yes, it could be really cool.” Then you get to about 80% or 85% and you say, “Oh, man. This is so boring. Ugh. I’m not going to do this anymore.” Does that sound familiar?

Tellman: This is what I call the “Three-Quarter Rule.” It’s a common thing with Adult ADHD. For me, it’s about 75%. I get the thing launched..it’s going well enough to exist, but it’s not really polished. So, what I did is, I recently hired someone, and their only job is to finish all the stuff that I don’t finish.

They’re happy, because they’re learning about all the really cool, creative things that I’m doing, and how to pull things like this together. This person is very, very organized, very meticulous, doesn’t have Adult ADHD like me, and is very good at just sitting down and focusing on something until it’s done, regardless.

I’ll tell you, he’s one of the most valuable people in my company. I can’t believe how well it worked. He’s finishing all the stuff that I’ve left unfinished.

But I’d like to bring up another point here, Stephanie, which is something people with
Adult ADHD need to ask themselves:
“Does everything actually have to get done?”
“Does everything you start have to end up finished?”

Stephanie: The direct answer to that is, “No. It absolutely does not.” It’s okay to leave some things unfinished if it’s not going to impact you financially, spiritually, emotionally or mentally in a way that’s very negative. How many times have you heard, “You’ve got to finish what you start”?

We hear it from parents, teachers, everybody.
They are usually really focused people without Adult ADHD, who only start one project at a time.

If you are a highly creative person with Adult ADHD you automatically start multiple projects at a time, and you should set an expectation for yourself that not all of your projects are going to be finished…or be amazingly successful. But some will–and in the end that’s all anyone can say–Adult ADHD or no Adult ADHD.

That’s the other point, Tellman. You know, if you’re at 85% and you can’t finish the project, you’ve got to ask yourself, “Is this project worth finishing?” If you say, “No,” drop it.

Tellman: Immediately.

Stephanie: Yes. If you say, “Yes. It is worth finishing. I’m just having trouble with this last 15%,” you know what you do? Of course, you use all the Adult ADHD focus principles that we’ve talked about before…

You see if there is someone without Adult ADHD who can help you finish it. Or, if you’re the only one who can do it, you use other tricks and techniques: you involve all your senses. You set a deadline for yourself. You set timers.

Tellman: You do mini deadlines.

Stephanie: Mini deadlines, of course, if it’s a whole project. In fact, all those things we just mentioned–using senses, mini-deadlines, and timers, are great techniques for focusing with Adult ADHD that people can find out more about just by going to our site–see below!

How To Find An Apartment

Friday, October 22nd, 2010

Apartment hunting is fun and stressful. There are many possibilities when it comes to apartments and you are going to have a lot of possibilities. There are also a lot of questions that you will want to ask yourself before you commit to an apartment.

You will first want to decide how long you will be living in the apartment. This will dictate the type of apartment that you are going to look for. If you don’t need a whole lot of space then chances are that you will be okay in a one-bedroom apartment. If you have a lot of stuff or if you need an office, then you may want to consider a two-bedroom apartment. Most leases will require that you commit to living in the apartment for at least one year. If this is too long, you may also be able to find a month-to-month apartment.

The size of the apartment may also be dependent on whether or not you are going to have a roommate. Before you make this decision you will need to research the cost of rent in your area and what you would want the roommate to help you pay for. If rent in your area is more than you can afford by yourself, then you are going to need a roommate to help pay for some of it. Before you choose a roommate you will need to find someone that is compatible with you. You do not want to find a roommate that you are going to find yourself constantly fighting and arguing with.

Most apartments tend to be small and this can make living with a roommate difficult. Many people don’t do well together when they are living in tight quarters. You will share many things with your roommate including utilities, house supplies, television and music. There are many factors to consider when deciding on whether or not to have a roommate.

Another aspect to apartment life is the amenities that are provided to you. The more amenities that are offered; the more you are going to pay in rent. Amenities may include a swimming pool, gym, laundry machines, location and size. This is where you are going to want to begin prioritizing your apartment needs and wants. If you are going to have a roommate, you will both need to decide how much each of you are willing to spend.

An important aspect of your apartment search is going to be where the apartment is located. Even if you have lived in the city or town for an extended period of time, you are going to need to decide on what neighborhood you want to live in. Take the time to research the different areas and then find one that you can feel safe and happy living in. You should visit several complexes in several different neighborhoods before you make your final decision on where you want to live. You may find that one neighborhood in particular is nice, close to your work and close to shopping. This may be the ideal place for you.

Thank You for Booking With Travel Agent X….have a Safe Flight..to Wherever You May End Up

Tuesday, October 19th, 2010

Happy Monday!

It’s the end of the month, and for us in the retail travel industry, it means a lot of fussing around, reconciling accounts and auditing figures. It’s more fun than your average trip to the proctologist, let me tell you.

Today started out with a real cracker though. A lady of Asian descent approached me not long after we had opened, and asked me “Where is the snow, and where can I find ski hire”. This was followed by her husband requesting accommodation for ”Lovely Ski chalet, with many happy, snow playing events”.

Now, if you look at the map, the man of the manor and I live on the Gold Coast, in the state of Queensland, in Australia. The last time there was any snow here, was possibly when Tyrannosaurus Rex had his own high rise cavern in Surfers Paradise. If it ever does start snowing in this part of the world, one can safely assume that those who rubbish the idea of Global warming, will be sending Al Gore a Hallmark card saying “Ooops …Our Bad”.

What my two Japanese friends were looking for was actually “Queenstown”.

A simple mistake to make for sure, and easily rectified by jumping on a plane and flying four hours south to the South Island of New Zealand.

Kudos to their Travel Agent!

Everyone has probably heard of the story about a travel agent who picked up a call from a woman trying to make a domestic flight in the US.
“I want to go from Chicago to Hippopotamus, New York” she said.
The agent was at a loss for words. Finally, the agent: “Are you sure that’s the name of the town?”
“Yes, what flights do you have?” replied the customer.
After some searching, the agent came back with, “I’m sorry, ma’am, I’ve looked up every airport code in the country and can’t find a Hippopotamus anywhere.” The customer retorted, “Oh don’t be silly. Everyone knows where it is. Check your map!” The agent
scoured a map of the state of New York and finally offered, “You don’t mean Buffalo, do you?” The woman paused, and then exclaimed happily “That’s it! I knew it was a big animal!”

You may think this is quite absurd, but the sheer volume of similar stories which have made their way to my ears from colleagues, is scary, to say the least. I have encountered a surprisingly large amount of unusual (read: Sorry but are you on crack?) queries myself.

I have been working in travel in one capacity or another, for quite a few years now, and it is quite a rewarding career. The opportunities for personal travel are terrific, as long as you don’t mind turning prematurely gray in the process.

Over the years, I have had clients from Brisbane ask me innocently whether they require a visa for Hobart, or what exciting Australian sights they might see on their walk from Alice Springs to Darwin (The obvious answer being: A lot of bones from previous tourists who had the same bright idea!).

Now, I do realise, that some people may be very new to the whole travel thing, and patience must be exercised with those who are just a little nervy about taking the first steps to seeing the world outside of the Rooty Hill RSL.
It is, however, a little difficult to keep a straight face when the first question out of a client’s mouth is “Does Social Security have its own airline for people on the dole?” (The appropriate answer to this is: Yes, but be prepared to wear your sturdiest runners, as that tarmac can get a little hot on the soles during that run-up.)

To be fair, it is not just clients that are eligible for the all-hallowed ‘D’OH” award.

A few years ago, one of my esteemed colleagues, who will remain nameless, greeted a most distressed women who stumbled into the store in tears, needing to get to a funeral, in Panama City.
We get ‘compassionate’ flight requests all the time, and they are never pleasant, so my colleague jumped on the system, found the lady flights, booked and sent the tickets straight to the airport, to try and make the arrangements as smooth as possible for the grieving woman.

Fast Forward to 24 hours later….

I received a phone call from the same lady who advised me that ,whilst my associate had been most prompt and sensitive in her service, she was currently in Panama City…Panama.

The funeral was in Panama City….Florida/US.

She noted that, even though the airport facilities were somewhat clean, and the dozens or roaming militia men carrying Tommy guns were not hassling her at present, she really needed to be at least another 10,000 miles away to attend the service.
I think I can safely speak for the rest of my workmates, that our collective and immediate response was a loud and panicked expletive (Think: Duck…one consonant replaced)

Even I have managed to stuff up my own travel arrangements (You know how it is – mechanics have the worst cars, plumbers always have a dripping tap…dentists with breath that could kill a man at ten paces).
On a recent trip to Singapore, I thought I would be a bit of a smarty-pants and book my own accommodation online (Even though the internet is a travel consultant’s mortal enemy). I found a great hotel, smack bang in the middle of China Town called the “Royal Peacock”…elegant looking suites, cheap rate and breakfast included. Giddy Up!

After an 8-hour flight and arriving at 05:45 in the morning, those lush looking suites and hot breakfast was about all I could think about.

When our cab driver dropped us off, I thought perhaps he had made a mistake.

No, there was the sign “Royal Peacock”, slightly obscured by boards covering two of the main windows.

It wasn’t until we had checked in and put our bags in a room with no sheets on the beds, and a smell that really, could only be urine (no matter what positive spin you put on it, urine is urine) that I thought perhaps, my choice might have less than inspired.

Eager to keep our distance from the large, unidentifiable green stain on the curtains, we decided that we would grab the freebie breakfast and then maybe look for another hotel.

My friend who was traveling with me at the time, is not a bad looking bloke, but even he was rather surprised to find several women hanging onto his shoulder and offering their hotel “turn down” services over cold rice porridge and crackers.

And when I say turn-down services, I am not talking about a little chocolate on your pillow.

Only a travel agent could book herself into a brothel!

Considering this, I kindly explained the “Queenstown/Queensland” situation to my new-found friends and re-routed their ticket to Christchurch, free of charge.

Lord only knows, I may possibly need some similar treatment down the track if/when I send an unsuspecting thick-accented American to Auckland , and not…Oakland.

Tactical Training For People From All Walks of Life

Monday, October 11th, 2010

Even a peace-loving, non-violent person can get lots of fun and valuable experience and insight with a course on tactical training. With peace keepers, it is a must. Here are some ways a class on tactical training can benefit people.

Awareness

A class on this topic doesn’t always mean a confrontational remedy to trouble. Lots of times it results to preventive rather than trouble-shooting measures. The main thing to benefit from tactical training is awareness. Trouble-makers, either in the field of war or criminality, have become more sophisticated today than in other times due to easier access to lethal and modern weapons and systems, primarily through the Internet. It’s easier to locate where these stuff are available. Being aware of what trouble-makers are doing and using today through courses on tactical training, people can better position themselves for safety prior, during, or even after trouble strikes.

Hand-to-Hand Combat

Tactical training deals with armed and unarmed confrontations, among other many things. With unarmed training, trainees cannot be expected to be martial arts gurus after 2 to 6 months of tactical training, but at least they learn practical things to do when in trouble in the streets. Striking vital points in the body, arm locks and holds, and basic and quick blocks and counters are important. The idea here is how to get out of a tight situation fast and then run.

Home or Environmental Defense

Tactical training is not just for war. It is also for securing one’s home and properties. With tactical training people can easily pinpoint the weaknesses and strengths of their houses or offices, inside and out. In case of deadly intrusion into their homes they can quickly react with calm to secure the safety of their love ones and then proceed to deal with the intruders in the safest way possible. The key here is fast, precise, and strategic action before intruders can figure out the house plan and know their way around. And this is systematically learned in tactical training courses.

Precision Sniper Training

No, the course does not aim to make all trainees as snipers deployable in jungles to shoot at advancing enemy personnel, but this may be possible with some learners. Anyway, the main idea is to gain precision shooting with hand guns and rifles. As a sport, precision shooting develops mental calmness, discipline, patience, steady hands, controlled breathing, and resolve to finalize a decision pronto. In real-life shooting, it ensures accurate shooting to merely disable armed attackers and not hit them–or bystanders–lethally.

Bodyguard Training

Also called Executive Protection Training, bodyguard training is not just for protecting bosses or a dignitary and securing their immediate surroundings. Trainees may apply the skill to protect their own love ones in crowded places where robbery, snatching, holdups, or random killing is rampant. The insights on street psychology, or psychology of an attacker or killer, are quite beneficial for anybody who values life and safety. Preventive measures on security, among other lessons on bodyguard training, are indispensable even for people living simple lives, in cities or the countryside.

These are just examples of the exciting and beneficial courses tactical training can offer people.

Increase your Sales, Profits, and Client Base, By Optimizing your Website

Friday, October 8th, 2010

Let me start off by telling you that I am by no means anything close to a techie. In fact I’m probably the furthest thing from one. It wasn’t that long ago that I didn’t know the difference between a keyword and a keystroke or a link and a website…but over the last couple of years I’ve managed to learn a few techniques that have raised my internet profile to the point where people contact me to become my clients.

Actually all it takes is some time to read, work on some simple steps, read some more, and listen. While the process is never ending it does have its rewards each step of the way.

Back in ‘97 when I, along with a young fellow who kept calling my office offering to help construct my original site, posted my dangoldberg.com to the world, I looked at my site as an online brochure. It saved me the hassle of carrying around lots of paper and mailing out “stuff” that would probably wind up in the trash. All I had to say was, “Do you have a computer?” After the usual “yes,” I’d tell them to get on the internet and go to my site and they’d find out everything relevant to their needs (of course that went along with me finding out what their needs were).

My website optimization awakening started when a gentleman called me wondering if I’d mind being a link on his site. I said, “not at all.” Within a few months I received an e-mail asking if I could conduct a sales training seminar for the sender’s company. When I inquired where they had heard about me that responded that they had been to my website. With a little more probing I found out that they had been directed there from the link on the previously mentioned site. Hmmm…my little brain went into action and I realized that it wouldn’t be a bad idea if I began to try to get links on other sites as well as find out additional ways to gain exposure for my company through my web presence.

First, I began writing articles for other sites. Next, I realized that search engines looked for all kinds of items that helped in getting higher page ranks: meta name descriptions (phrases that describe how you want people to know about your site) and meta name keywords (words that people search for in search engines that put your site in the rankings). Then I learned how to craft the corresponding descriptions and keywords.

I also learned how content was so important and how the spiders (those search devises that go over your site and send the information back to the search engines so they can rank you)…read from upper left to lower right.

The more I worked on my site the more business I received and the more prospect inquiries came my way. The more content I put up (on my site and others), the more links I had on other sites, and the more e-mails (and potential business) I had waiting for me in my e-mail “in” box.

As you can tell, I certainly don’t know all the terms. But I do know how to read, listen, and apply the techniques…most of the time. Those times that I don’t, I call on an expert.
There’s plenty more to learn about optimization and lots more I want to do with my website, but I have turned my little brainstorm into an avocation and its actually fun watching the applications I’ve learned and applied get results.

For an entrepreneur like me it’s just another way to use that energy and knowledge to help my business grow. A couple of the tools I used were a website optimization e-book, by an expert I really admire, along with a e-book that has helped me make some money with my site (aside from the clients I gained) both were e-mailed to me by a friend. If you’d like a copy of both books I’d be happy to send them to anyone reading this article. Don’t worry, there’s no charge for either. I got it for free and so will you. All you need to do is send me an e-mail at the address below with the words “Dan Send Books” in the subject line (helps with knowing it’s not spam) and I’ll send them to you. If not, that’s ok too. Just make sure that you find some reference material and/or classes that will help you improve your web presence and increase your business.

See you on the internet!

The Art of Happiness – Be Happy Now

Wednesday, October 6th, 2010

Would you like to be 100% happier than you are now? How about 1,000% happier? What stands between you and having greater happiness now? Read on to see how you can discover the happiness you’re looking for in your life. It’s just one step away.

Have you ever noticed how often people rely on others in their pursuit of happiness? How they expect someone else to make them happy? You might hear people say things like: “If only he would be nicer.” “Didn’t she know that would hurt my feelings?” “I would be happy if he would only talk to me more.”

When people have this idea in their head they can spend a lot of time figuring out how to fix or change other people.

What’s the trouble if you try this strategy? Not only do the other people feel irritated, they often get defensive at your attempt to “FIX” them. And it leaves you powerless. If THEY don’t change, YOU can’t be happy.

But even more important is that, since what you focus your attention on grows, focusing on what you don’t like will cause it to become what you notice most in your life.

Say, for example, when your significant other comes home they often leave a trail with their clothes, bags, books, whatever, strewn throughout the house. It drives you nuts! Every time you look at the residue of stuff they leave behind them, you feel irritated.

This has gone on for so long that now you notice every little piece of debris, everywhere you look, all the time.

And what you focus your attention on grows.

Perhaps you say something like this to them: “Can’t you pick up after yourself? You are such a slob.”

It’s probably not the first time you’ve talked about the clothes on the floor. And probably not much has changed since that first time. So what happens next?

The person leaving the clothes around probably gets annoyed at being told what to do. You lose hope that things will ever change. And you focus more and more on what you don’t enjoy about your partner.

Remember, what you focus your attention on grows!

So here it is, the step that will move you closer to being happier than ever before: Develop YOUR ability to focus your attention on what you ENJOY.

Maybe this sounds too simple. But ask yourself: “What would my day be like if I started and ended it by simply noticing or remembering everything that I enjoy in my life?”

Remember, what you focus your attention on grows. Focus on what you enjoy – it’s quite simply the fastest, easiest step you can take to start finding happiness in every moment.

Try this. Pretend that you have an emotional bank account. Every one of your thoughts makes a deposit. This means that if you’re constantly depositing painful memories in your emotional bank account, they will grow and grow.

They’ll even start multiplying if you’re using the law of compound interest. What’s this? It’s compounding the effect of thoughts like: “What a slob!” with more thoughts like: “She doesn’t care about me.” or “He’s the most selfish person I’ve ever met.”

Now, do you feel happy?

Now imagine that each day, you look for things that you enjoy, and you are thankful for them.

Your significant other comes into the house and smiles. Is that something to be thankful for? They ask you if you would like a cup of tea. Is that something to be thankful for? You see them put something away, without being asked. Is that something to be thankful for?

Now imagine depositing these memories in your emotional bank account, day after day. And compound them with as many other thankful, grateful thoughts as you can so they grow and grow. “It’s lovely when he brings me tea; he’s so considerate sometimes.” “I’m so glad we like doing things together.” “We just have so much in common; she is so much fun to be with”

How do you feel now?

Happy or sad, good or bad, pleasure or pain – authentic happiness is up to you. Focus on what you enjoy. Enjoy being thankful. It’s something anyone can do, even you.

What you focus your attention on will grow. You do have an emotional bank account so start saving your happiness up today. With a bank-full of thankful, you’ll be a master at the art of “having happiness now.”

Popular Art Decor For a Nursery

Saturday, October 2nd, 2010

Every expectant parent has their own way of preparing the room of their little one. It may be hard sometimes to meet in the middle, but things work out once the baby is born. Some parents would put storks or even angels as the wall art décor. Of course, the design will vary depending on the gender of the infant. Usually, if it is a girl, expect lots of pink. If it is a boy, blue is his color.

Flowers are one of the most popular art décor for girls. Because the girls look dainty in white and pink, flowers are those that the parents just love to see in her nursery. It gives them that girly feeling seeing their daughter dressed in pink and wearing earrings. Girls are just so fun to dress up because the wives and other female relatives can have fun with her hair and let her use some hair clips and headbands. People love looking at an infant when she is all dressed up.

For the boys, one of the most popular wall art décor is cars. Oftentimes, people associate cars to the men because it is something that they like playing with. More so, cars are the things that people just love to tinker when they have nothing else to do. In addition, in the racing circuit, you would usually see men driver. There are, however, a few women, that drive too but not too many. When it comes to the maintenance of the cars, also men get down and dirty. Women can do some mechanic things too but you would see the men who do it more.

If you are uncertain as to what the gender of your kid is yet you want to make the nursery already, you can always settle for something neutral. Nature is one thing that you can put in the room. Both girls and boys love nature and learn about it. With this, you can always add more items that are personal when the child is out. You can then add a little touch of girl’s stuff here and there. If it is a boy, you can do that too. There is nothing wrong if you build your nursery even though the baby is still in the womb. This just means that you are very excited with the baby.

The wall art décor is only one of the many things that you can put in the nursery. There are times wherein you and your partner can just have fun in decorating the room of your little one. Even though the infant does not understand what he is seeing, he knows and feels if his parents love and care for him. It may be hard sometimes to get everything in place especially if you have many things in mind. You just have to remember to put the most important things first like the bed, bottles, water and the likes. These are your priority because it is what the child will use for a long time.
