You can't cure diabetes but you can control it with proper diet and exercise. Foods you can eat include:
1. Fish, Poultry Without Skin, Lean Red Meats and Tofu – good sources of protein. Can be low in fat.
2. Brown Rice, Wholegrain Breakfast Cereals, Wholegrain Breads, Wholegrain Pastas
3. Apples, Apricots, Cherries, Grapefruit, Oranges, Peaches, Pears and Plums
Foods to avoid:
    * Fatty meat products (sausages, burgers, meat pies)
    * Butter and cheese (full-fat dairy products)
    * Fried foods (including take-out foods)
    * Sugar and sweets

There is no cure for diabetes yet. The only way is to manage it well. First its the food that you take. Cut out oily and fried food. Reduce those food that are high in carbohydrates. Take more vegetables and if you need to take meat, take only white meat such as chicken breast with the skin remove and fish. Avoid all fizzy sodas as they have a high concentration of sugar. If you really need to drink it, then opt for those that are sugar-free.

For exercise, choose one that you are comfortable with and that you like doing. If you forced yourself to do an exercise that you don't like, you will give up on it in a matter of time.
References :
Quick updates on diabetes information are available at: http://diabetesanswer.blogspot.com/ ;

There's no cure, only treatment. If you have type 1, the only treatment is insulin. If you have type 2, there are many many different methods of treating the condition and what you can or can't eat varies dramatically from person to person. Some people avoid all carbs, or strictly limit carb intake, but this is not necessary for everyone with diabetes. The only place to get proper information that applies to your situation is to consult an endocrinologist.
References :
There is no cure for diabetes. It is a life-long disease that can be managed and controlled...but NOT cured...no matter what you hear or read.

Perhaps there will be one in time. Research continues. I don't expect to be a cure in my lifetime and it doesn't really matter...I've had it for so long that it is a lifestyle. Granted, I would much rather not have it but since I do, I've accepted it and I live my life as I choose to live it. Diabetes has never held me back, except in some certain circumstances (like joining the military or something).

First things first... What is diabetes, anyway?
Diabetes
is a disease in which the body's pancreas stops producing enough insulin. Insulin is a protein that helps the body store glucose, or sugar. When you hear people talking about their blood sugar, they're talking about glucose. Insulin essentially takes glucose out of the bloodstream and packages it inside muscle cells. When you don't have enough insulin, as happens in diabetes, your body can't package glucose into cells, leaving excess glucose in the bloodstream. This excess glucose in your blood causes all sorts of problems over time.

You can't "cure" diabetes.

As far as your diet is concerned:

Do not eat foods that are high in sugar, high fructose corn syrup, etc.

No refined white flour products (white bread, cake, cookies, etc.)

Eat whole grains & foods that are low on the glycemic index, at least under 55 on the charts (links given).
References :
http://www.diabetes-blood-sugar-solutions.com/free-glycemic-index.html

As far as I know there is no actual "cure" for diabetes. The best you can do to control it is to take insulin/medication regularly as prescribed and keep your blood sugar at the doctor's recommended level. That's all I know.
